San Juan Vineyards Chardonnay 2012
Who loves receiving an eMail that any day a package of wine will be arriving at the door? We do! We do! So without any former introduction to the company, we waited with delight for the package.
And we weren't disappointed!
But it has to be said, this isn't any ol' unoaked Chardonnay. Dry and with a dash of green apple, this one cries out to be part of a crowd. It just doesn't want to hang around as a solo player for me-time at happy hour.
This wine would shine most brightly when paired with food, maybe more than any wine we've reviewed before. We drink review wine sans eats to explore its most basic self, but this wine screamed to join us at the dinner table. Some kind of decadently rich seafood with lots of butter. Pork medallions smothered in a mushroom brown sauce. A lusciously sweet dessert. Cake! Let's have cake!
Although we received this from the winery for review, it retails for about $14. So sweet (not the wine, it's just right). Now we're hungry. Chill the wine and let's eat!
