Lovingston Unoaked Chardonnay 2011
Comme ci, comme ca
I thought it was lovely, refreshing and enjoyed the little zip from the mild effervescence.
Tom said it was lovely and refreshing like an apple cider, except he called it "grape cider," saying it was more like a fruit drink for the whole family and not enough like a grown up bevvie, not enough body.
And then we both took a closer look at the back label: 10.5% alcohol. Really low in an era when producers are pushing wine's alcohol content ever higher. Still, not something to serve to children, but maybe too light for adults to take seriously.
But I liked the flavor (as did Tom). We both agreed that it might be perfect for serving if it looked as if the evening might carry on for too long.
We picked this up directly from the winery's tasting room for $15.
